Danish-British Wood Thilsted lands another contract for US offshore wind. This time, the contract pertains to two projects with a combined capacity of 2GW.
The deal concerns the 804MW Park City Wind project in Connecticut and the 1.2GW Commonwealth Wind project in Massachusetts.
”Park City Wind and Commonwealth Wind represent a historic opportunity for Connecticut, Massachusetts and the entire New England region, and we are pleased to partner with Wood Thilsted to ensure these projects are designed to maximize their enormous potential,” says President and Chief Executive Officer of Avangrid Renewables Offshore Bill White:
”These projects will provide enough clean energy to power over one million homes, create thousands of jobs and bring transformational economic investments to local communities. Wood Thilsted’s global experience will help us develop the projects efficiently and cost-effectively.”
Wood Thilsted has already gained a footing in the US offshore wind market after previously winning a contract for designing Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners’ 800MW Vineyard Wind project, which will be placed off the coast of Massachusetts like the Commonwealth project.
Set up in 2015 and with 12 offices across four continents, Wood Thilsted is currently involved in developing more than 8GW in total.
