Troubled wind farm suffers third blade accident

Even before the cleanup from the previous accident was complete, another wing came crashing to the ground at a new park. The developer has not heard back from GE.

For the second time in two weeks, a blade has broken off a Cypress turbine at the Alfsteds-Ebersdorf wind farm in Germany. On Thursday, GE technicians began work to remove the remaining debris from the blade that fell on one of the wind farm’s eight turbines on the night of Oct. 15. But late in the evening, another of the naturally stopped turbines broke off.
