British support does not make Vattenfall revive project immediately

The UK government is sending a ”very positive signal” with greater support for offshore wind, the Swedish project developer says, but still lacks an answer to secure the future of the GW cluster.

It was with built-in praise that the UK government last week announced a significantly higher financial cap in the upcoming offshore wind tender. The political announcement that the price cap was being raised from 44 to 73 pounds/MWh (62.2 cents/kWh) included kind words from Ørsted, RWE, SSE, Equinor, EDF and Iberdrola’s UK subsidiary, Scottishpower.
