German wind turbine manufacturer Nordex has had an order intake in the first quarter that was twice as large as in the same quarter last year.

However, prices for the turbines in question were slightly below last year’s level.

In the first quarter, customers ordered 338 turbines from Nordex with a total capacity of 2086 megawatts compared to 1021 megawatts in the same period last year.

The average sales price per megawatt of capacity was EUR 0.85 million, which is slightly below the average price of EUR 0.90 million per megawatt in the first quarter last year, the company announced on Tuesday morning.

The orders in the first quarter were spread across eleven countries, but the largest single markets were Germany, South Africa and Lithuania.

”With an order intake of more than 2 gigawatts and stable prices, we are building on the success of the previous quarters and are off to a good start in the new year. I am very pleased that we have won several large orders in different regions, as it shows that our turbines are in demand both in Europe and beyond,” says José Luis Blanco, CEO of the Nordex Group.
