Norway currently enjoys the largest hydropower and oil resources in Europe. But now, the country could become the leader in a third energy technology. Last week, Finnish-Norwegian consortium Grenselandet announced 900 MW in wind projects in the Norwegian region of Finnmarken, which is only the beginning, expects wind industry organization Norwea.
"We can easily construct a further 30 TWh wind power. Finnmark has Europe's best wind resources, so we don't need feed-in tariffs, green certificates or anything. We are operating entirely on resources and the technological development and I am convinced that Finnmark will become a major wind region in the next 20 years," says Norwea CEO, Øyvind Isachsen.
