GE makes surprising gains on renewable energy

The division for renewable energy, which just acquired Danish blade manufacturer LM Wind Power, is roaring ahead for the US industry conglomerate.

US industrial giant General Electric (GE) delivered a better bottom line than expected in this year's first quarter. The profit per share landed at USD 0.21 compared to the analyst estimate of USD 0.17 per share, according to Bloomberg News.

Revenue in the quarter was also surprisingly positive as it reached USD 27.66 billion compared to the projection of USD 26.4. GE also states that it expects revenue to improve further over the course of the year.
