Vattenfall eyes need for larger offshore returns

Regulatory measures are liable to curb future investments, states CEO Anna Borg, pledging to keep running tabs on Vattenfall’s offshore wind venture.

Offshore wind was the obvious success story for Vattenfall in 2022. While hedging and asset re-evaluations squeezed the annual reports as a whole, wind operations proved otherwise successful. Here, mounting electricity prices, increased windspeeds and increased capacity from Kriegers Flak, among others, meant that earnings before interest and taxes doubled to SEK 16.5bn (USD 1.55bn).
