NKT has been awarded three turnkey high-voltage power cable projects in the Netherlands of an approx. value order of EUR 1.9bn. It is the largest order combination in the company’s history, a stock exchange announcement reads.

The submarine cable projects are located in the Jmuiden Ver and Nederwiek offshore wind zones in the Dutch part of the North Sea. Here, grid connection of several offshore wind farms is underway at a combined capacity of 12MW.

Specifically NKT is to deliver 1,700 kilometers of high-voltage direct current covering both on- and offshore power cable systems for the project lots Beta, Gamma and Nederwiek 2 of a combined installed capacity of 6GW.

Production of the cables is scheduled to start somewhere between 2024-2027 with expected commissioning in 2028-2030.

”I am very satisfied with the award which confirms our strong position in the high-voltage power cable market and our long-standing relationship with Tennet,” NKT CEO Alexander Kara says in a statement.

The order does not change NKT 2023 outlook.

Back in 2020, NKT was also awarded contracts from Tennet at an order value of EUR 1bn and EUR 250m.
