Rasmus Errboe has been with Ørsted for almost twelve years. Over the past two, he has been promoted several times, first to CEO of the company’s activities in Europe, then to CFO, and now, to Deputy CEO for the entire group.

”I’m delighted to announce that Rasmus Errboe has accepted the role of Deputy CEO and CCO,” says CEO Mads Nipper in a statement.

”Rasmus has done a very good job as CEO of Region Europe and more recently as interim CFO, and this has equipped him with a comprehensive understanding of the business, making him a strong fit for this new role.”

The previous promotion was a consequence of the failure of Ørsted’s US offshore wind project, Ocean Wind 1, which cost the previous CFO, Daniel Lerup, his job.

However, Rasmus Errboe has continuously maintained that he viewed the CFO role as a temporary assignment, and at the end of February, the energy company brought in former Maersk CEO Trond Westlie to fill the position. At the same time, Patrick Harnett was promoted to Chief Operating Officer following the dismissal of Richard Hunter.

In addition to becoming Deputy CEO, Rasmus Errboe is also being given the title of Chief Commercial Officer (CCO). He will be responsible for the same portfolio that Martin Neubert held until he left Ørsted in the fall of 2022.

That was CEO Mads Nipper’s second major management reshuffle since he took over at the beginning of 2021. The first came immediately after taking office and resulted, among other things, in the establishment of the CCO role.

During his first three years at the helm, Nipper has replaced the entire management team at the energy company. The last remaining member was Communications Director Martin Barlebo, who was let go last month as part of the initiated savings plan.

With the promotion Errboe, however, the CEO now has a right-hand man who has been part of the company since it was still called Dong Energy.

”I’ve been with Ørsted for more than a decade, and I continue to be deeply motivated by and proud of being part of our journey. The key focus for me and the team will be to continue to deliver on our updated business plan,” he says in a press release.

Ørsted will maintain its organizational structure with Asia Pacific, Europe and Americas as its three regions. Going forward, the energy company’s Regional Directors, Director of Communications and Sustainability, and Director of Strategy, Portfolio, Innovation and Digitalization will report to the new commercial organization led by Errboe.
