Russia to continue crude oil exports via "shadow fleet"

Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February, more than 100 tanker ships have switched owner. These are now part of a shadow fleet that will transport Russian oil when the EU’s embargo comes into force.

Russia has access to such a high number of tanker vessels that the country will be able to continue its crude oil exports at the same level when the European Union’s embargo becomes effective from Dec. 5.
