Dong Energy's first offshore wind farm in Taiwan will soon be realized. The Danish utility has signed a deal to purchase a 35 percent stake in the Taiwanese offshore wind project Formosa 1 from local company Swancor Renewable. Macquarie Capital owns half of the project while Swancor Industries has an ownership interest of 15 percent, writes Dong in a press release.
The project is not exactly massive. Last October marked the launch of the first phase of Formosa 1, the country's first offshore wind farm. However, it currently boasts just two Siemens turbines of 4 MW each. The plan is to add another 120 MW during 2019 if funding commitments are obtained.
