The major round of layoffs at the Siemens Gamesa blade factory in Danish city Aalborg will not be as extensive as feared, reports local media Nordjyske, writing that only 450 will be let go instead of the previously announced 600 employees.
Mass layoffs were announced on Aug. 21, but company has now made a deal with the union resulting in 150 fewer firings. 395 hourly paid workers will still have to find new employment along with 51 salaried employees. 50 will be offered jobs at other Siemens Gamesa factories, including in Hull in the UK.
