Danish supplier halves profit despite growth

Price pressure in the wind industry has intensified and will continue, says Danish Aluwind, although the supplier still foresees growth outside of Denmark.

Aluwind continues its growth spurt from recent years. Revenue at the Danish wind industry supplier came to DKK 490 million (EUR 66 million) in the fiscal year 2016/2017, which is 15 percent more than in the previous year, while constituting growth of more than 50 percent compared to two years ago.

But the bottom line is not keeping up with this development. This year's result of DKK 13.7 million before tax is virtually half of last year's result. After three years of profit margins in the range of 5.9 to 7.6 percent, the profit margin last year was down at 2.8 percent. This indicates that the supplier is subject to the industry's overall trend, currently negatively impacting all wind suppliers: Increased price pressure.
