The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM), which is part of the US federal government, has on Monday given its final approval for the two wind projects New England Wind 1 and New England Wind 2 totaling 2.6 gigawatts (GW), according to a statement from BOEM.

The projects are being developed by Avangrid. BOEM granted Record of Decision (ROD) for the two projects back in April, but has now also given final approval to the Construction and Operations Plan (COP).

A number of other minor approvals are now pending from the US military, maritime authorities, fisheries and hunting authorities, aviation authorities and a number of state authorities, among others.
